Advice For Attorneys On The Immigration Consequences of State and Federal Cases
In addition to advising criminal and family counsel, we regularly assist immigration practitioners by drafting briefs and motions, throughout the whole spectrum of removal defense. Examples include - but are certainly not limited to - the following types of work.
I have extensive experience litigating any and all issues which could arise in a habeas petition - from initial case analysis to moving to enforce grants, to appeals of habeas petitions in the circuit courts of appeal.
I have extensive experience advising upon and litigating both creative and routine applications of mandamus petitions to unusual situations.
In the vast majority of cases, we prepare briefing on behalf of the client's existing immigration practitioner, and generally do not undertake direct representation other than in the Courts of Appeal.
This allows us to focus on what we do best; complex legal briefing, and allow the client to maintain their relationship with original immigration practitioner. The benefit for the client is that we can consequently prepare documents more quickly - and for a lower price - because we have lesser client contact.
The benefit for the immigration practitioner is that you can rely on the benefit of our expertise and where ethically appropriate, still share in the fee associated with the work.
